This was a shawl that lives up to its name.
Yarn purchased in Manhattan
Started on a plane to Vegas
Knit at home in Dublin
Knit at my brother's high school graduation
Knit in the sun at the pool
Knit at work during our knitting club
The blue is a very pretty light robin's egg color. The yarn is cotton but I'm still not sure I'll be wearing it this summer. Well, unless I make lots of plans to be outside at night where it just starts to get a little chilly. If anything this will be nice in the fall. So now that this is finished what do I do? Start another!

I snagged this from another blog. I'm sure you care to know these things :)
A FEW THINGS ABOUT MEHow long have you been knitting? 4 years? I tried to make Cosmo a sweater and it was awful; but helped me learn to knit and purl.
What other crafts do you like to do? Everything. I love to make things. You name it and i either have or would like to try it!
What are your favorite yarns to knit with? Malabrigo. Sundara. Noro.
What are your favorite needles to knit with? Addi lace turbos. Any size they come in. Then Knitpicks but they don't have all the sizes I like.
What's your favorite knitting gadget? I love to just touch the yarn and put it away. Swift is great; yarn is better.
What fibers do you absolutely NOT like? I never really knew the difference, but know I have a hard time with acrylic. Even cotton is difficult sometimes.
What are your favorite items to knit? Right now it's shawls. And baby sweaters. I don't have as much time to knit so I like the down and dirty easy projects.
What are you knitting right now? 2 shawls: traveling woman and ishbel. Also a baby sweater that just needs edging. I have some socks too that have been sitting around forever.
What do you think about ponchos? I have a few I don't wear so I wouldn't knit one. They are cute but not practical in Ohio. It's either too cold to wear one as a "jacket" or too warm.
Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Definitely circular!
Are you a sock knitter? Of course! Even though I don't like socks I like to knit them. I only have one pair for me that I've knit, and only wear them when it's REALLY cold out!
How did you learn to knit? All by myself. I got a book and worked through the kinks.
What is--and how old is--your oldest UFO (unfinished Object)? I hate UFOs. I only really like one project at a time. I would like to finish Ishbel because it's been around for awhile...

Have I done a WIP post recently? That wasn't knitting? Here's what I'm working on:
Finally, I get to make a baby girl gift. And it's not pink - wow! Purples and greens this time, which I'm loving. Of course there are some vintage linens thrown in there too. And I had all of this in the crazy stash, including sashing, backing, and batting. I would be lying if I said I wasn't proud of that.
I basted it tonight, but will probably redo it. I have a bad habit of basting on the carpet, so when I crawl over it I twist up the backing. I've made enough quilts that I should know better, but I'm set in my ways. I work a late night tomorrow, so I may work on this in the morning, but not if it's nice out! Then I may go knit outside. There's another WIP there, but I'll save that one for later.
My little brother graduated this past weekend - congrats Mark! I cannot believe he's so old...he was just a cute chubby baby who loved hugging big mascots.

i have sewn! it's been about 6 months i think, but i had good reason to pull out the machine again - an apron gala! what's that?? i didn't know until about noon yesterday and it was last night. it's a fundraiser for a local market that we go to. most of the vendors are there with food (and other freebies), and there's a silent auction and raffle. but most importantly you are encouraged to wear an apron. so what did i do but make a new one!
this was so easy. i used 2 vintage pillow cases so i would have a double thickness for the body and also not have to do much hemming. i used one of my old aprons that i've made for the shape, then added the ruffle. it was lacking something so i put the lace on there too for good measure. make a little binding for the straps, add a pocket with vintage button, and it's done!
i had to style it of course, so i wore it over a cute white dress with yellow heels, and although you can't see it i have a yellow flower in my hair. although i did not win best apron (a political statement one won that...) i did have a very nice but intoxicated women tell me that she was going to track down the apron fairy and demand that they give me a sticker. she also took a picture of me and told me if i looked cuter than her in it she would delete it. oh - and the apron fairy really did exist.
now that my machine is out on a cluttered table i think i need to plan a new quilt. i just found out that someone at work is expected a GIRL so i get to make something cutesy after all of the boy sweaters. and hopefully that means that i will actually have some crafting to post here!

It's probably more like "like grandmother, like mother, like daughter" because we're all pretty alike. Happy mother's day mom!
For always looking cute and coordinated (nice legs!)
Hope you have a great day. See you soon!

And on a completely unrelated note, we have a fun "what NOT to wear fashion show" at work Friday. It's getting nice out and let's just say there's some inappropriate stuff being worn. My outfit was the 'it's too short' look. People couldn't believe that I really wear this dress, because I'm normally very professional at work. Here's photographic proof that I do wear it, and with heels. (Those heels were some of my favs, but I wore them out...)

I'm so glad it's May - it means that we should finally start seeing some nicer weather! I'm done with the chill and would like to see some warmer temperatures around here. This weekend was quite nice actually, minus the rain. And lots of fun! Look, I did a mural:
Ok, no I didn't, but I love that cloud with teeth. I did this:
Sushi - check
Knitting - check
Work - check
Fun - check
Great lunch - check
Exploring - check
Relaxing - check
It was nice to have a restful weekend. It's been busy around here, so this was welcomed. I've been taking lots of pictures of myself (not part of the 365 project yet) for no real reason. It's fun to try different settings on my camera, especially in different light. I've got a tripod and timer, but the mirror is just as good.
I'm about ready to dig into my stacks and stacks of fabric. I could use some cute summer dresses and tops...which means I should clear off a table so I can start making some patterns! I have lots of ideas just not lots of time. Isn't that always the case?
