merry christmas and happy new year!

I might as well get the good tidings out all at once, right?! It's been awhile since I've visited my own blog. We were on vacation and I was able to knit at the pool/beach thanks to some perfect weather. I see the same people there nearly every time we visit (most of the older generation...) and they always seem amazed at what I find to work on there. This time a man was pretty much insisting I was making mittens! But nope, socks.

 

I did all this plus finished the second heel during the trip. I even managed to pretty much match the color striping patterns on each sock. The ribbing on the second sock is mysteriously longer than the first though. I was going to do 2 at a time again, but I didn't want to deal with both balls of yarn at the pool.

 

Here they are being revealed on Christmas day. I think Cosmo approves. These were for my mom, and I am so glad they fit! It was hard for me to tell because I have little sz 6.5 feet and hers are normal size!

Christmas morning is always fun. I usually wake up too early, and this year my brother and sister got up with me. That's nice since they're getting so old!!! So we had some fun before everyone else woke up.

 

I have some great videos of Cosmo climbing over the presents under the tree looking for his presents, but i don't know how to get them on here. Maybe someday. The rest of the weekend was a whirlwind of dinner with dad, and then 2 dinners with the rest of the family. All very fun.

No, not me, my sewing machine. I dropped it off this weekend and supposedly it's fixed. I'm only going off of the samples they handed me...I haven't gotten to try it out yet. I'm crossing my fingers that's for sure!

 

This is what's gracing my banner. Isn't it sweet? A little gift my mom found for me.

 

And I'm hoping with my 'new' sewing machine I'll get to use these great Spare Change squares! They've just been sitting on my sewing table since they came. I've also got plans for a baby quilt for my supervisor at work. Speaking of, I will be changing departments at the beginning of the new year...

AND the most important thing of the day! Happy Happy Birthday to my brother Mark! The big 1-7!

A soft, fluffy scarf for Grandma B's birthday. I got the call last night that it arrived so I can finally post it! I made it with 2 strands of that gorgeous blue Blue Sky Alpacas Suir Merino. On US 15 needles if I remember correctly. So it was a fast knit, but a very fun one. I had most of it done on Thanksgiving night, and finished the last bit at lunch Friday.

I wish I could say I've been a flurry of X-mas making here, but that's not really the case. However, I have purchased some gifts from Etsy already so there will be handmade. Lots of it. And I'm hoping to get a lot of crafting : knitting, embroidery, sewing done on vacation. SO there's hope yet!
