I made a sweater!

My first sweater. Yes, it's baby size, but it's a sweater. From the great tutorial here.

I made size 6-9 months, and my gauge was pretty much dead on except in the sleeves. Somehow it's a little bigger there, but bigger sleeves are cute on a baby, right? The baby was born last month so this should be good just in time for winter. Made of Cascade 220 in beautiful heather shades.

I blocked it yesterday and sewed the buttons on today. Vintage, of course!

I really wouldn't mind keeping it because it is my first sweater, with my first button bands. But I made it as a gift, so that's where it's going. At least I'll have the pictures.

Getting Caught Up

I finally uploaded some pictures from my camera. And I reopened Etsy. And I'm knitting. And quilting. 

First up, take a sec to check out Derek's blog. It's a tumblr, so it's just little posts while he's away. And while you're at it check out his Flickr. He's been in CA 2 weeks and already bought me a ton of Ikea goodies and also some great Japanese treats! My clue was "Cotton, but not the fabric"...duh! He got me Cotton Time! And a ton of other neat things. Thanks, but don't buy anymore until you get paid!!!

Here we are before I took him to the airport. I'm not good at taking these kinds of pictures, but you get the idea.

Here are some socks I made for him as a going away/anniversary present. He left on our 9th anniversary, so who doesn't deserve socks for that? They are his 4th pair of hand knit socks and I don't think there's any going back now.

I made a cherry pie with our CSA cherries before he left. I don't really like pie, but this was good. I'm one week into being on my own, and I am still not a good cook. I was thinking about it though and I'm not sure if it's that I don't like cooking, or that I don't like having all of the ingredients in the house to be a good cook. I like making elaborate meals (Thanksgiving), but not the everyday stuff. I need to work on that.

Alright, off to finish up my light box. I'm just making a little one for shop updates. And I'll probably knit some more - I'm making a baby sweater for someone at work. It's a test for me because I want to learn how to make a button band. I figure I pick up and knit a million stitches for socks so this can't be that difficult...right? The body is done and I'm halfway through 1 sleeve. It's already 8pm though so I don't know how much progress I'll make tonight!

Derek is out in CA now, so I'm here making lots of things. Mostly knitting right now, but I plan to get back to two unfinished quilts this weekend. I have to pull some more pictures off my camera, I plan to reopen Etsy this weekend (finally...), and do some more reading. Potentially boring things, but they will keep me busy!

Eeek I'm in a book!

This was my surprise from last night...

My sample of Pretty Little Presents from Lark Books! I love Lark Books - I have nearly their whole craft books collection! The package this was delivered in was all torn up, hence the raw right corner, but I can deal with that. I'll have to buy a fresh one next month though when it comes out...Those aren't my designs on the front cover...but...

These are! Pocket placemats! Yay! And there's my name. I know a lot of crafty folks are already 'published', but this is new for me so I'm excited. I love the photo they took! I already have my samples back so it's crazy to see them in a book. I had named them too, In Their Place Placemats, but I guess that was a little too goofy for print! :)

It's kind of hard to tell what this is, but it's a cozy for diapers, or wipes, or really anything! It's fully lined too. Anyways, I needed to brag a little because it's exciting!

Hello!

Yes, it's been awhile, but I didn't drop off the face of the earth! I have just been busy busy busy. Derek leaves very soon so we've been visiting family and going out pretty much everyday. In between all that I've managed to finish another pair of socks for him and start a fourth pair - that pair is ALMOST done, but I don't picture them being done in time before he's gone. He'll just have to get some good mail! :)

I also had my birthday and that was great! I'll share some photos of lovely and thoughtful gifts soon, now that we're into a whole new month. I also got something REALLY cool in the mail last night that I will have to take some pictures of.

For now, yarn? 

Probably not suitable for Derek-socks, but gorgeous none the less.
